Wednesday Workshop: Matisse Paper Cut-Outs on the Gel Plate

Wednesday, July 22, 2026
6:30PM - 9:30PM
$80.00

Instructor: Jennifer Caloreyas

Inspired by the bold colors and organic forms of Matisse’s paper cut-out series, this 3-hour workshop invites participants to explore playful abstraction through gel printing and cut paper collage. Through a variety of instructor-led activities, students experiment with layered monoprints, drawing from our observations of Matisse’s work and learning new techniques on the gel plate. Students explore what it means to “paint with scissors” and how to plan a print using stencils and masks. Students can decide to be inspired by Matisse’s color palette or apply their own. Open to all levels.
