Instructor: Timothy Kitz
Join painting instructor Timothy Kitz, for a special one-night only exploration into the art and painting style of Lyonel Feininger, the German-American Expressionist painter whose prolific career as a cartoonist, painter, Bauhaus instructor, photographer and music composer established him as one of the 20th century’s foremost modernists.
Incorporating Cubism and Expressionism in his work, Feininger created transparent, and prismatically luminous architecture and landscape paintings comprised of fractal planes and structured geometries reminiscent of rhythmic musical compositions and kaleidoscopic imagery.
Workshop attendees will be tasked to create works inspired from samples of Feininger images using a variety of mediums and surfaces; from watercolor, gouache, casein, and ink on paper, canvas and boards – students will create their own expressive paintings while exploring Feininger’s distinctive style.
