Instructor: Gary Paller
Join expert artist, Gary Paller, for this special one-night only opportunity to learn to paint a still life in the Cubist style. Cubism, developed by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque (among others) in the early 1900’s, rejects traditional perspective and breaks subjects down into geometric planes from multiple viewpoints. This allows the viewer to see the objects from many angles at the same time.
In this workshop, students focus on painting a still life by breaking down the visual information into interesting abstract shapes, ultimately arriving at a relatively flat, fragmented image. Come create a Cubist still life painting using this influential and revolutionary painting process which helped open the door to abstraction.
