A Message from Amy Gantman, Executive Director

As I joined Brentwood Art Center this May, I had long known of BAC’s excellent reputation for providing outstanding fine arts programming to students of all ages, levels, and backgrounds. I am truly honored and excited to be joining your talented community of artists and educators. Coming with the personal and professional experience of living and working here in L.A., as well as having led and/or managed arts programming for institutions such as Otis College of Art and Design and UCLA Extension, BAC’s commitment to its students, the arts, and education preceded it.

While reflecting on the challenges of the past year, I am especially impressed and inspired by the commitment of BAC’s internal community -- board, staff, and faculty members -- to sustaining the Center and the monumental task of moving its roster of courses online during an incredibly difficult time.

While reflecting on the challenges of the past year, I am especially impressed and inspired by the commitment of BAC’s internal community -- board, staff, and faculty members -- to sustaining the Center and the monumental task of moving its roster of courses online during an incredibly difficult time.

In 2020, BAC relinquished the studio where we had held courses for almost 50-years. This summer, courses, workshops, and camps will continue to be held online. Looking forward, I am excited to share with you that the Center’s board leadership is amidst a dedicated search for a physical space and hopes to announce a return to a new westside location in the coming months.

Established in 1971, Brentwood Art Center has a wonderful 50-year history of pursuing and achieving the highest artistic standards. Since becoming a non-profit organization in 2012, the Center stands more dedicated than ever to fostering a learning environment that encourages creative self-expression, develops traditional skills, reflects innovative ideas, and is sensitive to the needs of the individual and the dynamics of the group.

Brentwood Art Center provides high quality arts instruction and experiences to students of all ages and levels, while promoting the arts and conducting outreach throughout the Southern California community. Courses are small and individualized, while focusing on the artistic development of each student. Our instructors are dedicated teaching artists whose goal is to inspire each student, while integrating process and product, concept and skill, and creativity and structure. A selection of summer’s exciting line-up of camps and courses includes – CAMPS: Live from London, Imaginary Drawing Club, Comics and Cartooning, and Observational Drawing; Kid’s Classes: Adventures in Art, Drawing Painting & Mixed Media, and Fashion Illustration; and Adult Classes: Live from Provence, The Art of Collage, Abstracting the Landscape, and Botanical Illustration: Succulents and Cacti.

Again, I am honored to join your vibrant and creative community and look forward to connecting with you this summer.
