This class begins with an introduction to the “Four Treasures of Calligraphy,” followed by a brief meditation, ink making, and control of Qi. Through guided practice in ink brush painting, students explore the harmony of movement, ink, and spirit. Using a variety of black ink techniques, students create compositions that appear rich and complex, yet remain elegantly simple. All levels are welcome in a relaxed, supportive space. Please note that Chinese calligraphy will be taught briefly on the first day to help students understand how to use the tools. The main focus is ink brush painting.
Location: This is an in-person class taking place at the new BAC campus located in Santa Monica at
1625 Olympic Blvd., Santa Monica, CA. LINK TO MAP.
Transportation and Parking: Centrally located for easy access from all over Los Angeles County, BAC is only a 5-minute walk from the E Line (Expo) Metro Rail station exit off of 17th/SMC. The Center has a small parking lot located right in front of the buildings entrance. If parking is unavailable in the lot there is 2, 3 and 9-hour metered street parking in the area.
