Lorna Herf

BA Design, University of Massachusetts
2020 Applied Jewelry Professional diploma from the Gemological Institute of America

Lorna is an artist and metalsmith whose work combines traditional techniques with cutting edge technology. Light and form are a primary interest to her work, whether it be depicting shapes with color or using the physical property of metals to create a special visual effect.

Lorna trained with expert goldsmiths, scientific illustrators, and realist and expressionist painters, to learn technical skills, art history, and find her artistic voice.

In addition to her art, Lorna has spent years working on creative software products, most recently making tools to measure and control color and brightness of light and computer screens, and to understand the effects of light on the health and behavior of living things.

She is an active member of the Metal Arts Society of Southern California, the Enamelist Society, the Los Angeles Art Association, the Culver City Rock and Mineral Club, and the Alliance for Metal Clay Arts Worldwide (AMCAW). Lorna is currently represented by The Artists’ Gallery (TAG) in Los Angeles, California.
