Instructor: Gary Paller

Join expert artist, Gary Paller, for this special one-night only opportunity to learn to paint in the style of Joan Miró. This workshop focuses on the artist’s unique experimental and surrealist style, combining abstract painting with dreamlike fantasy. Using a limited color palette of bright colors against a dark background, students create energetic compositions of simplified forms and symbolic shapes. Utilizing Miró’s sense of childlike whimsy, students will paint with a sense of playfulness and movement. Students will also explore and draw inspiration from their own dreams and the subconscious to create personal symbols that convey emotion and meaning. Come create an expressive painting that celebrates vibrant color, fantasy, and a sense of freedom!

Location: This is an in-person class taking place at the new BAC campus located in Santa Monica at

1625 Olympic Blvd., Santa Monica, CA. LINK TO MAP

Transportation and Parking: Centrally located for easy access from all over Los Angeles County, BAC is only a 5-minute walk from the E Line (Expo) Metro Rail station exit off of 17th/SMC. The Center has a small parking lot located right in front of the buildings entrance. If parking is unavailable in the lot there is 2, 3 and 9-hour metered street parking in the area.
