Dear Brentwood Art Center Students and Parents,
We want to express our sincere concern for our students and their families and we hope that everyone is doing their best to stay safe during these challenging times.
The Brentwood Art Center Board of Directors has made the decision to extend our closure through the Spring semester and as a result we are canceling all classes through June 6. We feel it is the prudent action to take especially considering there is no end in sight for this pandemic for the foreseeable future. Given the rapidly changing scenarios, we find ourselves adjusting on a daily basis as more news is made available regarding safe practices. Please know that we will continue to closely monitor the situation and we will reopen the moment it is safe to do so.
Thank you to all of our students and parents who elected to take makeup class(es) for classes canceled this week. Our admin team will begin to process refunds for the Spring classes. As you know, the Brentwood Art Center is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) so if you are able and willing to accept a credit or makeup class(es) in lieu of a refund please send an email to email@example.com to let us know. If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to support the art center please do so on our website www.brentwoodart.org. For the latest updates please follow us @brentwoodart on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
During the coming weeks we will be exploring the possibility of offering online classes, as well as, virtual workshops and private instruction. We are committed to cultivating creativity and with today’s technology the possibilities are infinite. Now, more than ever, we need art in our lives.
As an organization we will continue to innovate and evolve to serve the needs of our community. More information about online instruction will be shared in the next few weeks so stay tuned.
Please take care and thank you for your incredible support and understanding.
As you know we have been closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic. Although no one to our knowledge at the Art Center has been diagnosed with the virus, our Board of Directors made the decision to close the Art Center for one week to ensure the safety and well-being of our students as well as the broader community.
**ALL CLASSES ARE CANCELED beginning Saturday, March 14 through Saturday March 21.**
We will issue refunds for all classes that are cancelled next week. If in lieu of a refund you would be willing to accept a makeup class, this would help to support Art Center operations during these uncertain times. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have a class scheduled between March 14 and March 21 and you would like to receive a makeup class instead of a refund.
Next week we will deep clean the Art Center facility with the help of a commercial cleaning company. We will continue to monitor and assess the situation as it unfolds and weigh our options.
We are planning to begin the Spring semester as scheduled on Monday, March 23rd. We will notify students of any changes to this plan. We will share updates on social media @brentwoodart and on our webpage:
If you have any questions, contact us at email@example.com.
*If any of our Art Center students are diagnosed with Coronavirus please call or text Adrienne immediately on her cell at (310) 405-2715.
As always we will continue to communicate with our student community on a regular basis. We are confident that we will weather this crisis if we each do our part while staying calm and vigilant.

Although the risk of Coronavirus remains low in LA County, the Brentwood Art Center is proactively taking the following steps to protect our community:
Please stay home if you are ill. Effective immediately if you are sick we will no longer require 24 hour notice for you to receive a makeup class. Please call the front desk at (310) 451-5657 to report an absence before your class begins. We will review this policy at the end of the Spring semester, which ends June 6.
Every day, our facilities team (Blue Crew) will sanitize all public areas and frequently touched objects / surfaces hourly. They will sanitize the bathroom sink faucets, door locks, toilet handles, toilet seats, light switches, soap dispensers, and door handles. They will wipe down the water fountains, the front and back door handles of the building, the kitchen fridge, kitchen sink faucet, microwave, toaster, coffee and tea dispensers, vending machine, seating areas and portable art / watercolor lamps.
No handshaking. Please refrain from any physical contact with friends and colleagues.
Washing your hands for at least 20 seconds is the best defense against the Coronavirus. We have antibacterial soap available at all of the sinks throughout the building.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth after washing your hands.
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and then throw the tissue in the trash. If you do not have a tissue, use your elbow (not your hands).
To get the latest and most accurate information on the Coronavirus please visit the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Website or the CDC website.
Thanks to a generous donor and BAC Leadership Council member we have received a gift to fund extra cleaning and sanitizing of the BAC facility as part of our Coronavirus response efforts to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our students.
