FINE ART WORKSHOPS

Each semester the Brentwood Art Center offers fine art workshops and mini-series for all levels.

All instructed workshops include supplies in the registration fee, unless otherwise noted.

Artist Masterclasses are free but attendees must reserve their seat online.

Uninstructed workshops are $15 per session and students must bring their own supplies.

Austyn de Lugo who has taught mixed media classes for students, day camps, and family workshops will host a tour of his studio on @brentwoodart Instagram Live on Wednesday, April 22 at 1:00 p.m. Austyn de Lugo is a Los Angeles-based artist who received his BFA in oil painting from the American Academy of Art in Chicago and an MFA from Otis College of Art and Design. While staying at home Austyn has been working on a series of portraits made via FaceTime.

 

Drawing the Eye

In this workshop you will learn how to draw a realistic eye, tips and techniques of shading it, locate the highlights and showing depth in your drawing, how to show dark or light iris colors in just gray scales.The instructor will teach and demo with charcoals You can work with any medium you like as long as you could apply different values.

Charcoal: 
soft, medium,hard charcoal pencils 
Blending stump (small and medium)
Kneaded eraser, pencil eraser 
X-Acto knife
Sanded paper block 
Tissue 
Graphite pencils (HB or 2H)
Canson paper or any charcoal paper

For other mediums:
Whatever is needed to draw, create values and applying them on proper surface

This workshop will immerse you in a fun and experimental 5″ x 7″ world where we will explore the development of a series of manageable, unique collage compositions. Save to bring your photographs, sketches and found ephemera to remember and reimagine.
